Dr Iyi Uwadiae, 53, hails from Benin City, Edo State. He holds the National Certificate of Education (NCE) of the University of Lagos. He also obtained the B.Ed (Mathematics) degree from the University of Benin as well as M.Ed and Ph.D (Educational Evaluation) from the University of Ibadan. Before joining the Council, he was at various times a Mathematics teacher at Remo Secondary School, Sagamu, Ogun State and College of Education Benin, where he rose to the position of Head of Mathematics Department.
Dr Uwadiae joined the services of the Council on November 1, 1985 as Assistant Registrar III. He rose steadily through the ranks and was promoted Deputy Registrar in 2003. He has served the Council in various positions of trust and high responsibility, in addition to his front line roles in the intellectual activities and research efforts of the Council in the West African Sub region.
He is an academic researcher and has presented several papers at various educational conferences, seminars and workshops within and outside Nigeria. He is a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management.
Dr Uwadiae is married and blessed with children. He assumed office on Monday, February 4, 2008 when the former Head of National Office, Mr. Godwin Uzoigwe, statutorily retired from the Council.
