Mr. Charles Mivoghenubo Eguridu assumed office as the new Head of the Nigeria National Office of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Monday, October 1, 2012. His appointment had earlier been ratified by the International Appointments committee of the Council in July 2012.
He succeeded Dr. Iyi Uwadiae who had been appointed as the new Registrar of the Council and had since re-located to the WAEC Headquarters in Accra. Ghana.
Eguridu who hails from Eku, Delta State, attended NBC Primary School, Sapele, from 1 962 - 1966.; St. Malachy's College, Sapele, from 1967 - 1970 and ICE, Benin City, from 1973 - 1976. Eguridu graduated from the University of Lagos in 1979 with a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Psychology. He also obtained an M.Sc degree in Psychology from the University of Lagos in 1981. In addition, he also obtained a certificate in Computer Science from the Yaba College of Technology in 1991.
Before joining the Council, Eguridu was a Graduate Assistant at the University of Lagos from 1981 - 1983. He also worked with Gasps & Co. Ltd., Lagos as Administration Officer in 1984, as well as the Federal Ministry of Education as an Education Officer from January - October, 1985.
Eguridu joined the services of the Council on November 1, 1985 s Assistant Registrar III. He rose through the ranks to become Senior Deputy Registrar/Head, International Examinations Department at the WAEC Headquarters, Accra, on April 1, 2009. Eguridu has undertaken many other responsibilities, in different capacities, for the Council. Eguridu, who is married with children, has also attended many training courses and conferences within and outside Nigeria and has presented several papers at some of these conferences as well as at other fora.
